Yeah for great friends and family

This past weekend I had my first baby shower. Deborah and Becky did an amazing job of hosting amidst the threat that they would never get to hold the twins if there were a lot of games, they actually listened and it turned out great. Everyone decorated a onesie so now the girls have a wide variety of options from Einstein formulas, math equations, NASA space suits, and even their first "I'm with the Band".
My cousin did an amazing job on the cake. I was so glad to see everyone and just wish we got together more often. Thanks to everyone that came. I will be taking pictures of the onesies and posting them soon.

I was right

Tonight Chris and Michelle came in town for the baby shower tomorrow and we went to dinner. After dinner, the boys decided they wanted beer and Dusty had to have the Shiner Family Pack which he is convinced is only at HEB. We pulled in to HEB and Dusty wanted to park in the loading zone but I told him he had to park in a real spot. I didn't need another ticket as a result of his laziness (that morning I got a ticket in his truck for an expired inspection sticker... seems even if you are pregnant, you can't talk your way out of a ticket for that if it expired in November of last year.) So, we parked right in front of the liquor store and I suggested he go in there and see if they sold the family pack. Dusty refused and said only HEB carries it so off they went.

After a few minutes, I thought to myself wouldn't it be funny if Dusty and Chris got back to the car and there was a Shiner Family pack sitting on the dashboard. After much thought of how a very pregnant girl buying beer was going to look, I decided it was worth it, bundled up in my coat and headed in.

Sure enough, they sold it. I grabbed one and went to check out. As I was paying I said to the clerk, "Man, you can't even begin to imagine how excited I am that you sell this", took my beer and gloated all the way to the car knowing again, "I was right and Dusty was wrong." It didn't dawn on me until I got back int he car and told Michelle what I had said, that now I understood why the clerk gave me such a strange look when I said that. Nonetheless, the look on Dusty's face was priceless when he returned to the car and saw the beer.

The Perfect Storm

Last night was rough. It made me think about the guy we met at Alan's wedding who told us his wife slept in a chair the last two months of her pregnancy with twins.
  1. Even though the AC was down to 65, my personal heaters were on high and I was sweating my ass off.
  2. For some reason, I could hear my pulse in my right ear making it really hard to fall asleep.
  3. Since I have been sleeping on my sides, my shoulders are killing me when I lay on them.
  4. When I finally did fall asleep, I woke up for my snack/bathroom break and when I looked down, I saw what seemed to be a third boob. Apparently, Bay-bee had shifted up into my lungs (no wonder why I was having problems breathing) and her head was poking out. Try falling back asleep after seeing that.
  5. To top it all off, I am 99% sure I have acquired an allergy to Simba. Every night my nose stuffs up the minute I lay down in bed. Last night I tried rolling over and went face first into the fur ball sleeping on my pillow. I thought my head was going to explode and cause serious damage, but how can you get mad at the cute fur ball cuddled up right next to you?

Mr. Bird

Today, I went back to the doctor. He said the fluid levels in my belly are still high so gave me some medicine and told me modified bed-rest till Monday then I go back and have it checked again.

Sarah and I decided to grab lunch before we headed back to work and I headed home to start my weekend of bed-rest. We pulled into a restaurant parking lot at lunch and had been waiting on a car to pull out of a front row spot for quite sometime. When I started to pull in, from the other side a brand new BMW laid on the horn. As we turn around to look, we get the double bird. I thought, I can't believe he actually just flipped us off... twice. By the time I turned the truck off and got my jacket on, Sarah had already jumped out of the truck and was yelling at the guy "She's pregnant!" He threw his arms in the air and sped off. Of course, I thought the drama was over but oh no... in walks Mr. Bird and they sit him one table over from us. Go figure! Maybe he had been waiting and I just didn't see him, maybe he felt bad afterwards, but all I could think was I have never gotten the double bird before.

Suck it up!

So, today was my first true I'm pregnant moment. I decided to take advantage of a close parking spot at work. Since Dusty took the car, I had the truck. For those of you that have ever been with me in the truck, you know I am horrible at parking it. So, I squeeze into the spot and then open the door. Well, attempt to open the door. As I do, I start to get out and then get stuck. I try to suck it in, but it is not working. I get back in the car and try to figure out my next move. I back the truck up and try to fit better in the spot, but again, just a little too big. After the third try, I am able to finalize get out of the door and realize that maybe the walk from the back of the parking lot would have been good for me after all.

Now that I have had my first official pregnant moment, I can look back and realize, I have actually had several. I just never had admitted it.

So... I introduce... Top 10 signs I should have recognized as pregnant moments

1. I wake up every two hours (and no, that is not an exaggeration) I wake up at midnight, 2am, 4am, and 6am every night. Once would think it is just to go to the bathroom, and yes, that is part of it. The other half is that I am just plain hungry. No wonder why I was gaining a pound every other day.

2. I can now admit I have pee'ed in the most random places. In bed when I sneezed. In a restaurant when my friend made me laugh too hard. I literally pee'ed in my pants. In front of the toilet on the rug as I was yacking my brains out. The lesson learned from that one was no matter how bad you are about to throw up, always hold it and pee first.

3. I have the strangest line going down my stomach. Now, I am sure pregnant women get these all the time, but the strange part is that above my belly button, it is on the right side and below, it is on the left.

4. I have no moved up in the world from my size 8 1/2 shoe to a 10.

5. I can't even fit in size small maternity pants anymore.

6. Shaving and putting on my shoes have become difficult tasks.

7. At work, I tried to walk from building 2 to 20 and had to stop to catch my breath.

8. Everyone wants to put their hand on my belly including Simba who has started to sleep next to me with his paw on my belly, until they kick and he freaks out.

9. There is no longer a chance in heck that Dusty and I fit in a queen size bed.

10. I bought a Boppy.

Week 2 of the Diet

Yes, you all read the title correctly. My doctor put me on a diet. Apparently, a pound every other day is not healthy for you. Also, there is a large amount of fluid that he saw on the ultrasound and is concerned about the weight and the possibility of pre-term labor. When I asked what causes this, he said usually it is from the mom pigging out on junk food. (Yes, those were his exact words) So, when I told him I hadn’t been eating any junk food, the next thing to nix on the list was the carbs. Last time I was in his office, he told me to find a protein shake I like and try to get to where I am drinking 2 a day. So, I did. I went to the store and found the highest protein shake I could which happened to be Carnation Instant Breakfast. However, for those of you that don’t know that drink has almost 50 carbs in them. So, my nice protein shake turned into 100 carbs a day on top of the 3 granola bars, banana, kolache, Rootbeer, pasta and everything else I was stuffing my face with. Since I have stopped the carb over-load, I have only gained a pound in the last week. I go back to see the doctor on Friday so hopefully, my revised diet is working and I won’t have to go on a drastic diet.

Time to start being nice

This week is 23 weeks and we had another ultrasound. Things look good but the doctor was a little concerned about the amount of fluid and the weight I have gained. I am trying to eat less carbs with the help of my friends and hopefully, that will help.

Dusty and I have also decided we need to start being a lot nicer to each other. I told him that even if I was in the wrong, he had to act like I wasn't and be exceedingly nice to me. So, as a result, I got the following email from him.

"Hey smoopsy woopsy how is your day going, I hope you have a fantabulous day!!! Love you!"

Wow. All this stemmed from two nights ago when I yelled at him for putting the bread on the wrong shelf in the pantry. In my defense, that is the first time I have had a crazy pregnancy moment and he did squish the bread.

The Girls 1st Aggie Game

This past weekend we went to Dallas to see the Aggies play in the Cotton Bowl. I realized several things:
1. I REALLY don't like riding in the car.
2. My jersey barely fit. (Sarah had to tell me to pull it down several times before we could finally take the picture.)
3. The girls don't like me yelling. After the first series, I was "grounded" to my seat and had to stay quiet. Dusty claimed he was standing and yelling for me, but apparently, he wasn't loud enough.
and most importantly...
4. I should probably not go to anymore A&M bowl games as I am 0 for 3.
The guy sitting next to where we were taking the picture said "oh, how cute... a picture with the 3 of you." When I corrected him and told him 4, he almost fell out of his chair. I think at that point I realized I am about to have an instant full family.

Getting bigger and bigger

Here are the 21 week (black sweater) and 22 week (green shirt) pics. Oh the difference a week makes.
We also finally finished registering. Who would have thought it was that hard? We are registered at Target, Babies R Us and http://www.kidsarefanstoo.com/ Anyone looking for good collegiate gifts should check out http://www.kidsarefanstoo.com/ Their stuff is absolutely adorable!
Week 21 also brought us into 2011. As much as Deborah tried and tried, as always, our big plans for New Year's Eve turned into dinner and hanging out at our house. Last year there were about 25 of us and I would venture to guess 25 out of 25 were drunk. There were champagne bottles popping non-stop inside the house, wrestling on the washing machine, and climbing around in the new house across the street. This year... not so much. We went to dinner and then came back to the house. The boys began their night of drinking and after watching the ball drop in Times Square at 11pm, we decided to call it a night. Becky, my other preggo friend, and I went to lay down in the bedroom while the boys continued to drink and attempt to move baby furniture upstairs but only successfully managed to put a lot of holes in the walls. At midnight, they were "nice" enough to come and wake us up to tell us it was New Years and said they weren't done drinking and we could go back to sleep. Man we know how to pick them.
